FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
For too long, crime has taken over our streets in Portland, making a simple walk unsafe for its citizens.
Portland citizens get to experience and watch regularly, the destruction of the downtown core area because of rioting, destruction of public and private vehicles, vandalizing and looting of public and private buildings. This causes businesses to close and leave and stops new businesses from relocating here.
Meanwhile, both local and state officials have been heard and seen supporting and encouraging these events. News reports show them calling for more protesters—otherwise known as rioters.
These riots cost tax payers and businesses millions while hiking up insurance rates and dramatically devaluing property. Example: the US Bank Tower recently sold for one-tenth (1/10) of its original value. Also, offices and department stores are vacant. Case in point, Nordstroms is closing their anchor store in the downtown area.
In conclusion, since our state and local government refuse to protect all citizens, then someone must step up and provide that tax-supported protection.
